NorvikOps is not a startup, not a VC-backed company, not a SaaS with built-in lock-in. It is a project from an IT developer who eventually had enough — of overpriced compliance tools, of data in foreign clouds, of vendor lock-in for simple software.
The name
Why NorvikOps?
Norvik
Stands for nordic precision and reliability — no experiments, no half measures. Like Scandinavian craftsmanship has stood for quality built to last for centuries.
Ops
Is the language of the people we build for — admins, SysOps, SecOps. People who quietly keep everything running. Often invisible, rarely appreciated.
NorvikOps was born out of frustration — out of the daily reality of an admin who had to perform the same manual, error-prone processes over and over again. The tools that existed were either too complex, too expensive, or simply not built for the admin workflow.
So we built our own. Precise. Pragmatic. Without bullshit.
How it started
Five figures a year for compliance documentation?
Vanta and Drata don't publish pricing — aggregated real-contract data (Vendr, July 2026) puts the median at roughly $20,000 and $24,900 per year. For SMBs, IT departments and MSPs in the DACH region who simply need to document NIS2 or ISO 27001, that is absurd.
The problem is not complexity — it is artificial dependency. The data ends up in US clouds. The tool does nothing a well-structured, self-hosted solution could not do too. So Vakt was built.

Every piece of NorvikOps software runs on your own server. docker compose up and you are done. No cloud, no multi-tenancy, no shared databases.
Elastic License 2.0
Every line of code is public on GitHub — anyone can read and audit it. Self-hosting for your own operations is free and unrestricted. No vendor lock-in, no hidden limits for IT teams.
No telemetry — by design
No usage stats, no hidden callbacks. The optional license auto-renewal contacts api.norvikops.de once daily (license token only, no business data) — everything else stays on your server.
